East End 5k run

Following a highly successful inaugural event in 2007, we hope to improve on last years success and are seeking as many local voluntary and community groups to be involved as possible.

This years event will take place on Sunday 29 June from 10am onwards and the venue will once again be Tollcross Park.

Our expectation is that around 1500+ local people and families will take part, building on the 1000+ who took part in 2007. This is obviously a huge task to organise and in particular requires a lot of support on the day in the form of assistance with stewarding the route, assisting in the park in the events village, helping with the race start and finish (e.g., recording winners and participants numbers/times), liaising with stall holders, directing participants to first aid/toilets/creche etc. In addition there are pre event tasks which need to be done, e.g., sharing information and publicity materials around the area, helping to organise and pack goody bags and information packs etc.

If you are or any of your groups members would be interested in helping out in this task please contact me at your earliest convenience, we really want this local event to be supported by local people, and helping out on the day is fun and rewarding (as is taking part in the run itself!).

This is also a fantastic opportunity to publicise your group and its services to a huge numbers of local people, either by way of providing info for goody bags or organizing a stall / service on the day itself.
