25/2/2008East end fun run

THOUSANDS are expected to sign up for a 5k run this summer in the East End of Glasgow - double the number of last year.
The event, which was held for the first time last year, attracted around 1100 entrants.
But councillor George Redmond believes more than twice that number will take part in June.
The run will be held on the same day as the East End Festival and many thousands are expected to join in the fun in Tollcross Park.
Mr Redmond, who ran last year with his 10-year-old daughter Holly, said the 5k is suitable for people of all ages.
He added: "It is a family event and we are trying to attract young, old and disabled.
"We want the whole of the East End to come together and celebrate the positive changes which are taking place in their community.
"Last year I finished the 5k in 25 minutes but most people might be able to do it in 30 minutes."
The run will start and end in Tollcross Park and will pass the site of the National Indoor Arena and the athletes village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Mr Redmond said: "The East End Festival will also be held in the park on Sunday, June 29, and that is likely to attract around 8000 people.
"We plan to hold a music festival which will involve emerging bands in the city and there will be lots of other things for the community to enjoy.
"will be a fantastic day out and we are working with schools, housing associations and community organisations because we want as many people as possible to come and enjoy one of the biggest events in the East End."
Details of how to join in the run will be published on the city council's website and information will be available in the local area.
